Get yourself on the waiting list

Get on the list

From the start of the latest lockdown, everyone in England was instructed to stay at home and only leave home for essential purposes.  This included working from home where possible.  Since then the DVSA have suspended all theory tests, driving tests and instructed all driving instructors that all lessons were to be immediately suspended until the end of the lockdown.  During this lockdown, the DVSA has issued a statement instructing that all private practice is also to stop unless it is undertaken as part of an essential journey.

Is anyone offering driving lessons?

Following the advice issued by the DVSA, no driving schools or instructors in England should be offering driving lessons of any kind, without any exceptions!  The DVSA do have the power to penalise any driving instructors breaking the rules by removing them from the Approved Driving Instructors register.

When will driving lessons restart?

At this stage, it is unknown when the government will lift the current restrictions.  The government have already advised that the restrictions will be reaccessed and further announcements made in the middle of February 2021.  Driving instructors are as eager to get back to work as soon as possible and remain poised for the lifting of the restrictions.  Until there is a confirmed date to recommencing lessons it is hard to say when students will be able to book their next driving lesson.

Get on the list

In order to be prepared for when we receive the green light to go ahead and begin to offering driving lessons and tuition again, we can take names, addresses and phone numbers and add prospective students to a waiting list. So in order to start your driving lessons as soon as the lockdown does end why not ask your prospective instructor or driving school if they have a waiting list that you can add your name to? Paul’s Automatic Driving School does have a waiting list and is allowing students to add their details to the waiting list. You can join the waiting list from the website.

If you are interested in signing up for automatic driving lessons in Basingstoke please feel free to get in touch for more information.  Join the waiting list and we can then contact you when we are able to accommodate you for automatic driving lessons.

Check the government’s website

It is recommended that you check the government’s website regularly to keep up to date with the latest information and advice.

Keep busy by revising

It is important that during lockdown we all keep our minds active so why not keep revising for your theory test so that you can be as prepared as you possibly can be for the end of lockdown.  If you have passed your theory and want to keep focused on driving why not read the Highway Code online.  It is especially important to keep up to date with the highway code if you have a test booked, or have already begun your driving lessons so that you get the most out of driving lessons once they begin again and also boost your chances of passing your driving test.

Also, revise your road signs for free online.
