Do I need to wear a face covering?
Due to strict health and safety guidelines, all students are required to wear a face-covering unless they can claim medical exemption. These face covering must not obscure your view of the road. There is information on the government website outlining the exceptions and giving advice.
How long have you been a driving instructor?
I have been a driving instructor since 2004. Since 2010 I have solely specialised in teaching automatic driving lessons. I am currently a ‘Grade A’ driving instructor. At the moment I am also an ambulance driver trainer and assessor in my spare time.
How much are your lessons?
Driving lessons start at a ‘pay as you go’ rate of £40 an hour. There are discounts available for block bookings. Please see the prices and discounts page for more information.
What hours do you work?
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday. However, there may be further restrictions on normal working hours due to the current situation with the Corona Virus.
Do you offer any discounts?
The only discounts offered are for block bookings and these can be seen on the prices page of this website. Other than this we do not offer any further discounts or negotiations on our prices due to the fact they are already competitive for Basingstoke and are checked against other drivings schools regularly.
Do you work on weekends?
Sorry, we do not offer any automatic driving lessons at weekends. The driving school is closed every weekend for family time and some well-earned rest and relaxation.
Do you work evenings?
Sorry, we do not offer any automatic driving lessons in the evenings.
How long is the waiting list?
The waiting list varies in length depending on how many students are already ahead of you on the list. Not all students who join the list wait for the duration and sometimes no longer require lessons when we contact them, so it is possible for you to move up the list quite fast. If you with to join the waiting list please do so,
How much notice do I need to give to cancel a lesson?
A minimum period of 48 hours notice is required in order to cancel or change a driving lesson. Otherwise, the full lesson fee will be charged. It is with regret that continuous cancellations by a student will result in any further bookings being denied. You can read more about cancellations on our terms and conditions page.
How can do I pay for my lessons?
You are welcome to pay for your automatic driving lessons in cash, bank transfer or card payments are accepted. Please speak to us in advance and we can give you more details on paying for your lessons. There is sometimes a requirement for a lesson to be paid for in advance for new students to prevent missed or cancelled lessons.
Do you offer intensive courses?
We do not offer any intensive courses of any kind. But students are welcome to take more than one lesson a week subject to availability. This could be up to a maximum of 3 lessons a week.
What areas do you cover?
We only offer driving lessons in Basingstoke. This means that we do not offer any driving lessons in the surrounding villages or in other local towns. It is regrettable that we are not able to offer lessons in surrounding areas but at the moment the amount of work we have in Basingstoke will not facilitate the travelling time to other areas.
Can I bring someone with me on a lesson?
It is not normal practice for a student to be accompanied on a driving lesson, as this can cause unnecessary distractions. Also during the Covid-19 restrictions, it is also against health and safety advice.
How long are your lessons?
Automatic lessons can be taken in 1 hour, 1½ hours or 2 hours as required. You may also take more than one lesson a week if there is enough availability.
